The Landweg e.V. kindergarten and school was founded 25 years ago with the aim of promoting education for sustainable development. Since then, the house has become a center for regional and supra-regional encounters, cultural and environmental work. The central concern and goal of our concept is to provide the educational framework for children to become active, informed and creative participants of their community in a future full of uncertainties. Curriculum and school development are regularly reviewed and adapted to this goal. Based on the fundamental principles of Montessori education, our conceptual framework enables children to develop independence, respect for life processes and the ability to act. Practical learning, self-organization, mixed-age groups and the integration of socio-political discussions are important building blocks in this process.

Key features of our campus include: global and cooperative learning in mixed-age groups, indoor and outdoor areas and material design using sustainable materials, and the provision of wholefood meals prepared and cooked on-site using organic, regional and seasonal food.

We are a member of the Brandenburg Association of Independent Schools (AGFS) and a consultation kindergarten for the state of Brandenburg and several regional, national and international ESD networks.

Landweg e.V. is located in a rural area, which is seen as an opportunity to strengthen regional rural educational diversity.
